I have a 2003 Ford Taurus that has been missing and jerking when accelerating slowly or climbing an incline. IF you press the accelerator down hard and the engine rpms increase, the jerking stops. When the engine is cold started, it will not idle properly when put into gear, but will idle properly when placed back in park.

It has been tuned up and been to 2 different garages with no diagnosis. Recently my check engine light has come on as well.

Do you have any ideas on what could cause this problem?

Thanks for your help!

Have someone read the codes for you, post them back here, may give some idea of where to start diagnosing the problem. Some issues are hard to properly diagnose, a lot of garages are not equipped to do it, not knocking, it's the truth, do not replace parts by taking shots in the dark, a waste of $$$$
