Smells problem
2002 Ford Taurus 6 cyl 109000 miles

There is a strange smell when I start my car and the engine is cold. It smells like celery. It goes away after a couple minutes. Just a few notes: the defroster is on when I start it, with the heat turned all the way up. I also just had the coolant reservoir replaced and had a coolant system flush. I didn't have this smell before the repair.

Wheres I smell like celery? The exhaust?

Could be coolant heating up and burning off. May be a leak somewhere, keep your eye on the colant level.

You got excessive white smoke?

Thank you for the reply. I found out it was a leak in the water pump, and I was smelling coolant because it puddled up when the engine was cool.

Figured that it was coolant puddling up somewhere. Glad to hear you were able to find it and fix it.

Goodluck!
