Engine Performance problem
2002 Ford Taurus V6 cyl 205 hp Automatic 41000 miles
Rough Idling and misses low speed under 40Mph. Engine is 205hp 6cyl. No check engine light on!

Was told "probable leaking hose" by Strauss Auto and $85.00 diagnostic charge. Is there an obvious problem that happens on this model combo? I have been having routine maintenance performed according to car owners manual by Goodyear Auto Repair shops here in NJ. Car was sitting unused from Feb 2009 till July 2009.

Engine misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
