I drive an 02 Ford Taurus SES and within the last month or so, I've had problems with the entire car shutting off and then coming back on within a second or two. It happens in the middle of driving on the freeway, on city streets, at stops, when the AC is on, when it's off, high/moderate/low RPM, whenever. I don't crank the ignition or anything, the car including engine just stops, and then comes back on without me doing anything and it's starting to scare me

I've had the alternator and the battery tested and they were both fine. It's been suggested maybe a sensor problem or a short in the ignition column. I'm not sure, I just know that I don't have the money for a diagnostic test unless I've got no other options.

About the only thing you can check is sensor connections and the connectors at the PCM. Do the lights and accessories shut of when this happens?

Yes, the entire car (engine, radio, lights) shuts off as if I had just shut off the car. When the car comes back, all the instrument panel lights and things come on as if I had just started the car, and then they all go off normally.
