Electrical problem
2002 Ford Taurus

The car is making noise but will not start.
The battery is fully charged
i checked and cleaned the battery terminals
i suspect the solenoid but cannot find it

Please tell me if this is the most likely cause of the problem, how the find the solenoid and ways to test it before replacing it.

*when helping with solenoid location please be as simplistic as possible (next to the __ housing, under the __ assembly will not help me) I am very mechanically inclined but know little about cars

Find the starter relay,take a screwdriver and short out the battery terminal and the small s terminal and tell me what happens.
