Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Automatic

Our 1999 Ford Taurus SE picks up speed even when we take our foot off the gas pedal. Also when we first crank the car, it makes a whining sound like it's idled too high.
We were told that the throttle body might be hung up.
Does this sound right? Also if this is happening will it use more gas? Will Lucas fuel injector cleaner fix the problem?

Sincerely, Pat

I would pull the air intake tube off the throtle body spray it with carb cleaner open plates take a tooth brush and scrub. Also check for binding in throtle cable ie. Does it return to the stop.
Happy motering

Use only trottle body CRC brand cleaner, Fords use teflon coatings on these and carb cleaners destroy the finish.

I bought the spray and my husband sprayed the throttle body. It still seems to sound idled too high at first when he cranks the car.
The spray seems to have helped a little though.

Thanks, Pat
