I have a '99 taurus. And I thought that I had a tank of bad gas. It was running rough hesitating after ideling. So I added some heat and lucus chamber cleaner (at different fill ups). Now the car is still ideling rough and will ofter stall at lights. If in motion the car continues to accelerate. Say I am on the expressway going 55mph. Since I had to accelerate to get to that speed in taking my foot off the gas the car continues to accelerate. I have to shift into neutral and coast back to the speed desired. In neutral the car RPM jumps from 2,000 to 3,500-3,700 range and it will often drop after a few minutes back to 2,000RPM. But if I dont shift back to drive shortly after than it will drop to 800 and stall. The check ienging light is coming on and I was told it is could be the oxygen sensor. Any ideas?

Whoever told you the o2 sensor might be the problem, make sure you get it repaired elsewhere. Not busting on you, but I'm tired of the poor much-maligned o2 sensor taking the brunt of so many problems. Your car has 4 o2 sensors on it, btw. First thing you need to do it take it somewhere to get the car scanned for whatever code(s) are causing the light to come on. Most autoparts stores will do ti for free, make sure you get the code numbers and post them back here, do not buy any parts, if needed, yet. Someone on here can help steer you the right way. Hopefully the issuem is something relatively simple, like a vacuum leak in a line. Post back with results of scan. You can also check for vacuum leaks, loose electrical connections, make sure all is where it belongs.
