The transmission was leaking from the access panel in the bottom of the transmission, so we removed the transmission and replaced the seal. It is now all back together and the transmission continue to leak from the same spot.

Sounds like your torgue converter is leaking. Possibly near a weld. Dry the converter off with brake cleaner. Then start the engine and lit it spin for a few seconds, then check it for leaks.I'm the kind of guy, if I found it leaking I'd prolly try to close the leak with an arc welder. But thats just me. If its leaking (converter) may as well change it, its 12 years old.

It sounds as if the seal you replaced may have been damaged during installation or there is a further problem that you have not seen, you will have to remover the transmission and check for the oil trail, if it’s from the area near the seal you may have a worn front bush or a defective seal, if there is oil being flung around the bell housing consider having the torque converter checked for a fracture, this is unusual but best to be sure. With out actually inspecting first hand I do suspect the seal or the bush, which would be best replaced by a transmission specialist, as there may be further problems around the pump drive or the oil pump it self.
