Hello

i just bought a 1998 ford taurus "as is" 1000 miles later the head gasket blew.

i googled head gasket problems on the taurus and it seems pretty common but I would like to know

has anyone found a way to fix the problem?

are there any special gaskets, or materials to use that will extend the life of the head gasket?

also would appreciate any general advice tips or problems I might expect when replacing the gaskets.

Thanks Carl

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

Used best quality VRS gasket set and do not add any sealants to the head gasket, have the head checked by a machinist for warp and twist, make sure that the water ports show no sign of corrosion near the fire ring and use new head bolts.
