1997 Ford Taurus Overdrive

When I drive my car in drive it is fine, but when I drive it in overdrive and stop it locks up. I then have to put it in park and go back slowly to drive or OD and it will take off. What could be causing this problem? Thanks

/check engine light on? Or od light on? Could possibly be the tcc solenoid has failed, torque converter clutch solenoid.
