Hey guys, my daughter has a 1996 taurus gl wagon, v6 (single cam). When the car is at operating termperature the idle fluxuates from 700 - 1100 with no acces on. When accerating, the car burps and coughs at about 3600 rpm. But from 1100 - 3500 it runs fine. I am leaning towards electronics or fuel issuies. I hooked up the OBD 2, but NO CODES!
I could use a little assistance if possible.

I am not a mechanic but I had the same issue with my 95 Taurus (its an SHO. But the problem is still the same).

With mine, I had that same idle issue and eventually the car would cut out as the RPMs dropped. But it only occurred when the A/C was on. I changed the air filter and replaced the Idle Air Control valve (about $35 and it is really easy to get to). Then I noticed the car was a little low on oil so I changed the oil and replaced the oil filter and it stopped cutting out. It "burped" a little at 2200-3200RPMs so then I traced the vacuum hoses from the idle air control valve to the vacuum motor and noticed they were quite "cracked" around the T-connector. So I replaced the hose. And that did it. Just low on oil and two vacuum hoses. BTW:I didn't get any codes either.

Hope that helps.
