1996 Ford Taurus A few Electronic devices are out?

Electrical problem
1996 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 190k miles

As I drove in the dark and rain with wipers running, rear defrost on, cruise control set and radio playing, all these components and the speedometer went out! I took it to the ford dealership and they checked all fuses[they were good] and told me it might be the GEN MODULE but couldnt guarantee it. They replaced it [NOT CHEAP] and everything is still out except for the cruise it now comes on but I havent tried to set it. Please note also that 2 times after this problem as I drove in the rain I would hit my brakes and the radio panel lights would come on but go off when I took my foot off the brakes and also go off if I tried to turn on the radio or wipers? They wont even do that anymore though. Please help this is quickly destroying my savings account!

No gaurantee on this one, but on the master cylinder pull the plug on the cruise deactivation switch, it's on top in front. See if the electrical now works. Now on the passenger side of the car look up under the das where the fan motor is, is it wet? Do the same on the drivers side, where the wires come in from the firewall, you might need to unscrew the fusebox and check for water. Did Fors say anything about the cluster?

Could this possibly be the TS switch on the trans (old nuetral safety switch)? I believe there were several others having radio, lights and speedo problems and justanold pointed them to that switch
