My speedometer was going crazy. The Ford dealership said it was the Vehicle Speed Sensor and Speed Sensor Gear. Is this two different parts or all-in-one piece? Can someone give steps on how to change this? Thanks.

Hello,

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is located on the transmission housing (see diagram below).
The VSS consists of a built-in gear, comes as a unit.
Replacement of the VSS is straight forward. You will have to remove the speedometer cable and the mounting bolt to remove the VSS.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
