My 93 Taurus has an intermittent heating problem. When I start the car after sitting overnight or for at least 4-5 hours, the heat will be run very hot as the car heats up, for about an hour, after that it turns cold. Within the last 18 months I have replaced (not for this problem) the water pump, radiator and fan, and a couple of thermostats. The hoses going in and out of the heater core are hot and there are no apparent vacuum line leaks. The temperature setting control on the dash is digital set by degrees. Please help as it is very cold out here.

Enter self-diagnostic mode by
Simultaneously depress OFF and FLOOR buttons, then press AUTOMATIC button within 2 seconds. Display will be blank for up to 20 seconds while test is running.
Then codes are displayed,
let me know what you have for codes

No codes were displayed. The screen went blank for about 20 seconds and then the screen lit up like when the engine is started, displaying no numbers and all the functions.

Unplug in-car temperature sensor.
Measure resistance across sensor terminals.
If sensor resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.
If sensor resistance is okay, disconnect negative battery cable. Check wiring and connectors between sensor and EATC control panel for shorts or open circuits
