Ive have a 1990 Ford Taurus that started missing. I have gave it a complete tune up as well as air bypass valve, o2 sensor, and ignition coil. I pulled the plugs an they were black after a short time of running as well as a strong smell of fuel and black smoke coming from the tailpipe. It started acting up out of know were witch makes me think sensors. Ive look into the knock, map, ect, act, egvr sensors does any one have a suggestion?

Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
