Why does the passanger door not lock or unlock automatically

I have 98 ranger and when I baught it, locks also didnt work. After looking around I took the lock switches out of the door panel and the power connecters on the bottom of the switch were so corroded just like a battery gets that they needed cleaned and after cleaning I had no prob. So maybe you should try
