97 Ranger XLT 2.3L 5 speed

Where is the PCV valve? On the driver side (as it says & shows in Haynes manual) I don't even see the rear crankcase ventilation hose, or the OIL SEPARATOR that Haynes says the PCV valve is in.
I see a similar hose going onto a fitting to the underside of the intake manifold, (you can't get to it since its under the intake tubes) but that's all.

It should be right where you say, unless it is a DOHC. Then its under the driver's-side fender well. You will have to remove it to access the PVC. It's been awhile since I've been into a Ranger PVC valve but I think it's next to coolant lines. If I remember correctly, I had to remove the coolant hose to get to the PCV. On the SOHC, it's about midway on top of the valve cover, closer to driver's side. Hope this help's, good luck.
