2001 Ford Ranger squeaking noises

For the past couple of weeks my ranger is squeaking front driver side, when I go over bumps or bad roads. And squeaks when I push down on the front of the vehicle. I want to take it to the shop but want to know a little about what the problem might be. I am a small female and people sometimes take advantage of me. Need to know as much as I can before walking in there. Thanks so much.

My first inclination is that it may be the lower balljoint. They can dry out and cause a squeak. Depending on whether the vehicle is 2wd or 4wd will determine the cost of the repair. It is advisable to replace both or the lower ball joints at the same time, but it is not necessary. If you take it in and feel uncomfortable about the diag and want a second opinion, post back here with any questions you may have and we'll try to get them anwered for you.
