My Ranger has had very noisy steering since I bought it (about 5 months ago). Recently, whenever I take a sharp right turn there is one loud clunk noise that sounds like its coming from the front drivers side wheel well. What could this noise be, and how can I fix it and the noisy power steering?

Fords generally have a noisier steering. You can try adding some lucas power steering fluid conditioner, but you may be chasing down a ghost. IS the fluid a clean pink color as it should be?

The clunk needs to be looked at. Jack up the front end and shake the wheel at various postions using a push pull rocking action and feel for play. Gut feel is a ball joint.
