start out in overdrive than it shift to drive than back again it keeps doing that till i pull over and shut the truck off, it reset it's self and i'm fine of and couple of miles then it starts again. took it to the ford garage and they know me i'll need to change the transmission. I change out the the fluide and filter and it help for a while, but it start in again. I fine it hard believe that i would have to change out the transmission to get it fixed. Is there anything a back yard mech. can look for and if there is do yous have a step by step play book or something.

Hi zinger,

Thank you for the donation.

The trans is cocntrolled by the PCM and any differences in engine performance can cause faults in the shifting.

Does the OD indicator light comes on or blinks when the problem starts?

Get a second opinion from another source.
There is a self diagnostic system you can go in to check for DTCs.

Hi zinger,

An error has been detected by the PCM so you need to retrieve the DTC to find out what is causing the problem.

You need a scan tool to retrieve the freeze frame data error code.
