My 1997 Ranger engine is running hot. Not in the red, but right up there near the top of the white section. This winter I kept smelling anti freeze and knew the heater core was breaking down so I took it in and had the core capped off (The co. wanted $700.00 to fix/replace the core because it is in a weird place that requires removing the dash!! Couldn't do it). Ever since, it has been running hot and the smell continues. I have already had the thermometer and fan clutch changed. Unless I have been duped, both of these items are new. Running the fan seems to affect things, but I don't have AC. Do you think I need to replace the radiator next? If so, how much should this cost? I live in Memphis, TN
Thank you so much for your time and reply.
