I have a 95 Ford Ranger, and when I turn the ignition, all I get is a clicking noise. I've checked cables, they seem fine, battery seems fine. It looks like there's a Solenoid Switch? On the right side of the vehicle near the firewall, I put a screwdriver on it between the two posts and it still gives just a click. I'm assuming this means the starter is bad? My real question is this, How do I replace the starter? It looks like it's under neath the engine, or toward the bottom. Is it easier to come up through underneath, or down through the top? Do I have to remove anything else to get to it? I'm kind of lost on this vehicle

It sounds like the starter to me also it is easy to change you will need to lift truck and put on jack stands then remove 2 bolts for the starter but first disconnect the battery and then remove the cable from starter and install new starter in reverse it takes about 15 to 30 min

Thanks for that. I got jack stands today, waiting for my day off Friday to try this. I'm not a complete idiot, but if it's a car made after 1975 and it's not one of my VW's sometimes I just need to double check some things. I'll let you know how it goes.

No, I meant that as a real thank you, not sarcastic. Jackstands made it 100 times easier. I did it Friday, only took 20 minutes. I appreciate the help.
