Hi there, So this all started about a month after I bought my probe, I was dinking around under the hood and pulled out the pcv valve and the car died, so I put it back, and ever since then whenever I stepped on the gas from a stop it would sputter until it shifted out of 1st gear, I asked a mechanic I knew and he said maybe a tune up so I replaced the plugs and wires and that made it run 10 times worse, it would sputter off the line bad and around 40 mph, but over 60 it was fine. Sometimes I would go to take off and it would rev up to like 6000 rpms and then take off and shift hard. Since it ran better before the new plugs I put the old ones(which were fine) back in and it helped some. I have replaced the pcv valve, the plugs wires cleaned the points on the cap cleaned the throttle body and the maf sensor, and taped up some cracks on the rubber piece that goes from the maf to the T.B I am stumped and really annoyed Please help. Oh and no check engine light and it is fine while cold and gets worse the warmer it gets. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I am having the exact same problem on my Probe. I was wondering if you ever got it fixed as I am at my wits end with this.

No I haven't figured it out yet. I just replaced the fuel filter and that had absolutely no effect. I am contemplating dumping the car off on someone else.

Hi, well I finally got my car fixed today. It turned out to be a bad spark plug wire arcing to the engine. When this all started the first thing I did was replace the plugs & wires, so I never thought to check them after that. But anyway, that's what it turned out to be. You might check yours again, you never know. Hopefully yours will turn out to be something simple too. Good luck.

That is the same thing I did with mine at first too. How could you tell that the plug wire was arcing? I just replaced my serpentine belt today, it shredded and blew up while driving, lol. Thanks for writing me, I will let you know if it helps!

Well I had a piece of hose to my ear listening for vacuum leaks. I noticed every time it was near a certain spot I could hear a popping sound. So I put the hose down by the plug & it got a lot louder. I could also see the light from the spark reflecting on the end of the hose. So I found an old leftover plug wire from one of my old cars & put it on there & the car was running right immediately. I drove it to work today (about 40 miles one way), & it did great. Hope this helps. I'll keep checking on here & hopefully we can get yours fixed too.
