1991 Ford Probe low oil light came on while driving but gau

My low oil light came on while driving and is staying on, but when I checked the oil it was only 1/2 quart low. I added the 1/2 quart of oil but the light remains on. The oil gauge shows normal oil pressure but the battery gauge shows a high reading of almost 17. (Normally this reads within the normal range.) Is this an electrical problem or a mechanical problem and what is the cause?

The alternator is overcharging the battery -battery could explode get it checked out-it should be in this range 13-15volts

Oil light on:

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearings.
