Shock/strut issue?

I went over a very high speed-bump and bottomed out. At the same time a sound came from the front of the car when it bottomed out sounding kind of like a spring grinding or popping. When I'm driving slowly and turn the wheel, the sound occurs. When I get about 10 mph, the sound doesn't occur when the wheel is turned. Occassionally, I hear it when I go over a bump at a higher speed. It seems to be located around the right front wheel. Could this be a busted shock or a problem with the strut?

Thank you very much

What kind of car?
Stand in front of it and look for the tire being staight or tipped. If it's tipped you may have bent the strut.

Sorry it's a 2002 Ford Focus. I will look again, but didn't notice the tire tipping.
