1959 Other Ford Models engine idle drops when in drive or re

I have a 1959 with a v8 engine that has a four barrel carburator when the car is turned on the car runds well at idle speed, but when you shift the car into gear like drive or reverse the car drop from idle speed of nere 100rpm to 500 rpm and sound rough and vibrates the hole car as well what is th probem and how can it be fixed?

Check the timing and points, then set the curb idle to spec. The curb idle is higher than the in gear idle so it should probably be set at around 1000-12000 rpm so when drive is selsected it runs at about 700-800 rpm, or get some help, and have someone put it in drive and hold the brake while you set the idle.
