I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but I would like to hear it straight from the horses mouth, so to say. I found a mint condiiton 03 mustang terminator cobra with 22,000 miles on it. However, the guy said he has always used pennzoil in it. If I switched to synthetic could I start experiencing leaks? I only aksed because I used to have an LS1 camaro Z28, and I switched to synthetic after 86K miles and it starting leaking. I just wanted to know what your guys take on this was. Thank you.

Should cause it to leak! With olde engines I dont suggest it, but with a newer engine im surprised it aint recommended to use synthetic, lots better for the engine. I would go with the reccommended oil, but synthetic wont harm ya!

Penzoil makes synthetic by the way.

Did you mean to say "shouldn't cause it to leak?" Because if not, you seemed quite enthused about saying "should cause it to leak!" But it's not likely to have any problems with leaking once its switched to synthetic with a mostly stock 03 cobra with only 22K miles, right? Also, what is the recommended oil for this car? Is it that half synthetic motorcraft oil?

10w30, doesnt specify regular only, you should be able to use whatever you prefer. My friend runs synthetic is his 2000 stang gt.

And I run synthetic in my 87 and its never ran better.
