I just took my car to the garage to plug a tire and was told that my exhaust manifold is leaking. With parts and labor I was told it's a $700 job.

Is that fair?

It might be a $700 job. Depends on if it's the forward or rear manifold needs to be replaced. The question I would ask is if it does NEED to be replaced. Does it make a lot of noise or screw up emissions? How bad is the leak, did they say? If it's only a leaking doughnut seal at the manifold, then it's not a $700 job, but maybe if it's a bad manifold or manifold gasket. It's pretty labor intensive to take the manifold out. Let us know.
