My AC compressor is locked up needs replaced. I want to hold off on repair until spring when I need AC again. Its making some noise, can I remove power to the unit to get it silent?

It depends what's actually making the noise. If the compressor is truly locked up, then it's likely already blown the fuse anyway. If the compressor is locked internally but the pulley is making the noise, then unplugging it will do nothing for you. You will just have to replace the compressor now. You will also have to deal will all the debris it lodged into the rest of the system when it let go meaning you may have to change the condenser also.
