1999 Ford Mustang 'Service Engine Soon' light stays on cont

My car was running great and all of a sudden it started running horrible!The check engine light came on and stays on. I have changed the plugs, wires and run fuel cleaners through the gas. Nothing!
It has a definate misfire, sometimes will backfire and loses power, in general running like hell! What's my other option. I had it tested at the auto store and being a woman, they thought I was stupid. They said "Mam, you have a misfire coming from somewhere" DU? Please any advise or reccomendations will be greatly appreciated. Just please don't tell me I need to replace the Catal. Converter, that's damn near $450.00

Hi there,

The first thing you will have to do is get a scan done to identify what the set fault code is that has caused the check light to come on, do this first.
