1998 Ford Mustang car is missing when drove

My car misses when driving and the ideling goes up and down especially when stopped. The car runs fine but does have the miss in it occasionally when going down the road and it cuts out. I intially thought it was the gas but doesn't seem to be that. Any suggestions on what the problem may be?

Is the CEL(check engine light) on? If so have the PCM read at a good autoparts store (autozone etc.) Most do this for free. Repost with fault codes for a better diagnosis !
