I just bought the above mention car and it immediately started sending the water temperature gauge up into the red zone with the first 3-5 miles of driving or about 10 - 15 minutes of idling. The cooling fan on the radiator has never come on. As far as I can tell there is no power reaching the fan motor. I checked the fuses and I have replaced the temperature cooling switch. ( Located by the distributor cap ) I've also notice that if I turn on anything electrical it makes the water temperature gauge spike. Any ideas?

Hello and thanks for the donation!

Does turning on the vehicle's A/C cause the cooling fan to turn on?

Inspect and test the cooling fan relay, let me know how it tests.

Turning the A/C on only makes the water temp. Gauge spike into the red, the A/C does not come on. I'm not sure where the cooling fan relay is located.

Should be labeled " constant control relay module" or "CCRM", it is mounted on bracket behind the engine coolant reservoir
