I have a 93 mustang with a wound up 306 that I just rebuilt. During the rebuild I Upgraded to a high volume oil pump with a 7 quart deep pan as well. When the car is at idle im right at 60 pounds of pressure but when you tach it up it jumps all the way to 80 pounds. Is this too much or is this normal?

80 psi isnt bad. If it gets too high the relief valve opens, or you blow the oil filter apart.

Well if it goes much above 80 without the relief valve opening, its gonna blow! But it seems at 60 psi at idle with a warm engine, you have a real tight engine there! As it wear or should I say breaks in, it should drop a few pounds too. The spec on a 302 5.0 is 40-60 at 2000 rpm at normal temp, so you are in the park!
