2004 Ford Fusion Squeaking Noise when car is started

I hear a loud squeaking noise from my engine when I start the car. After having it run for 10 minutes, the noise seems to get less. After the car sits a while then I start up again, the noise is loud once again.
What is this noise and why does it almost stop after the car runs a while?

Jane I am having the same problem with my car that you sent a post on. Did you ever find out what the problem was with the car? I have 38000 miles on my car and just would like a clue before I start coughing out money. Thanks in advance.
