2002 Ford Focus Transmission

This car has a sluggish and then mildly hard 1st to 2nd shift. It also surges at 50 mph. No dash warning lights are on. 1 - 2 shift solenoid? Or?

Could be the shift solenoid but the first thing I would check would be the fluid level. It sounds very basic but it could easily cause the problem you are having. Double check with your local auto parts store to verify the type of transmission fluid you should use for your Ford.
