Engine Performance problem
2001 Ford Focus 4 cyl Automatic 133000 miles

hi.I am not sure whats going on.I was driving about 60 mph and my engine just lost all power. No matter how far I pushed on the gas pedal. It wouldnt accelerate. Then all of a sudden it picked up and took off.I do have an engine light on. The parts store code reader told me that I was running "too lean". Not sure what that means and what I need to do to correct it.I had an exhaust leak that was fixed about a week ago. But light wasnt on at that time. Any info is appreciated. This car is my only way of getting to work

Hello there,

Too lean means you have too much air reaching the cylinders or not enough gas reaching the cylinders; either way it upsets the ratio air-gas.
It's impossible to pinpoint something in particular without doing some tests. What was/were the exact code(s)...P0171, other? You could have low fuel pressure, or defective/dirty MAF sensor, vacuum leak, bad EGR, bad PCV, bad DPFE.
If you give me the code, I can try to help you a bit more.
