2001 Ford Focus Car cutting out and trying to die

I bought this car about two months ago from a used car dealer. Right after I got the car my check engine light came on. I wasn't too concerned about this because I was having no mechanical problems with the car. Now my car has been cutting out and now dying when I stop. I have had the fuel filter replaced, thinking that was the problem but it didn't fix it. I checked my spark plug wires and one of them has electrical tape on the end. I'm not sure if replacing them will fix my problem but would like to avoid spending money guessing what is wrong with this car. PLEASE HELP!

Since you don't want to guess or spend un-needed money, take the vehicle in and have it scanned for trouble codes, it should tell you wants wrong, post back if you need further assistance.
