Unlock steering column, with ignition off. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from tie rod end stud. Discard cotter pin. Using Tie Rod End Separator, separate tie rod end from steering knuckle. Paint an alignment mark on tie rod end, tie rod and front wheel spindle tie rod. Loosen jam nut. Remove tie rod end.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Check alignment.

Inner or outer?
Outer is the one you can see, so jack up the car, use a jack stand under it. Remove the tire, remove the lock nut, On the inside of the tie rod, there is a locking nut, crack that loose, use a tie rod puller, remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle, spin it off, count the number of turns it takes to remove it, and install the new one turning it on the same number of turns. It is still recommended to get an alignment after doing the work!
