I'm looking to purchase an 2010 FG XR6 50th anniversary edition and have a great opportunity to pick up a clean one at a great price but its run 200,000 kilometres.
What is the general rule of thumb for an FG this age and mileage? Are there any common faults I should be wary of or possible nasties approaching at that mileage?

There are not any major flaws to say you should stay away from them. The only issue is the same as any other vehicle with this amount of mileage which is how was it maintained? If there is proof of maintenance and you know how many previous owners then that will give us a little better idea of how it will hold up.

If we can see the maintenance history then clearly we know everything was done possible to try to take care of it.

Knowing how many previous owners will give us an idea of a possible issue with it. If there were a lot of previous owners then that would ask the questions of, why were there so many owners? Clearly this is subjective but pair that with lack of maintenance on the vehicle and you may want to steer clear of it.

The last thing is the price. Is this just an amazing price for this vehicle from someone you don't know? If it is, why is it? It gives the impression they are trying to unload it. Again pair this with any of the other info and you start to paint the picture of how you ownership may go.

Again, this is all subjective and that is the best information you are going to get. There is no way to tell what is going to happen in the future with a vehicle. It could be the worst maintained vehicle with many owners and an unbelievable price and you buy it and never have an issue with. However, while it could happen, it is unlikely and when you are looking to purchase a used vehicle you want as many of these positive items going in your favor in order to give you the best chance at a positive ownership.

The inverse of this is true as well. You could buy a single owner vehicle that was perfectly maintained and a good price, and it breaks down the next day. I know this can happen because it has happened to me. The idea is to try to limit the chances of purchasing a vehicle with issues and these are the things you need to look at.

Hopefully this helps. Let us know if you have questions. Thanks
