The a/c clutch at odd times losses contact. I have checked current and have power to the clutch when this happens. If I tap the clutch plate it engages and starts working. I think it is an air gap problem. The clutch plate does not seem worn. Is it possible to adjust the gap and if so how?

Remove nut holding clutch p/p on couple screwdrivers will help. Once out look to see if shims are present if so take out untill you get.006 to.008
clearence. If no shims replace shoe tighten down until setting is reached.
If gap is already correct then clutch assembly will need to be replaced.
Good luck
