2003 Ford F-250 Parking Break light

My parking break light and the alarm for the same won't go off after the parking break is released. At every stop the alarm go off for about 50 sec before it turns off. What would be your best guess to fix this problem?

Check brake fluid
if low check brakes
check float in the master cylinder
if all checked OK
check the E brake switch at top of the e brake ratchet
check cable adj.
