2000 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I want to buy a used Ford F-250. I have the choice of a 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Which one is recommended for normal driving. I do not plan to use the 4 wheel dirve on a daily basis but only when needed. Is the 2 wheel drive more reliable? Easier to maintain for repairs? I have never owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle before and I would like to know the benefits and costs of the vehicle.

I would go with 4x4. Its better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it!

4x4 is a bit more expensive and may get as much as 1mpg less, but mostly is unnoticeable.

4x4s are a bit more expensive IF the transfercase ever goes out but is veyr unlikely, mostly if it brake s4x4 just wont work and then you have a 4x2 truck.
