I am replacing the driver side tail light on a 1996 Ford F-250. I think its pretty straight forward on how to do it but, thought I'd ask if there is anything I should know before replacing the tail light.

You're right it is straight foward. The biggest thing to know on that is where to get it.
Dealer is expensive,
junkyard may be the cheapest, but many aftermarket companies are available as well as e-bay.
