Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 7.3 non-turbo diesel and it is smoking (white/blue) and the smoke smells of raw fuel. I am not loosing coolant. When first starting the truck it spins over very slow and then slowly the engine speeds up. What could my problem be?

First check your air filter. Maybe run it for moment without it installed

Have you recently replaced the injection pump? It sounds like your pump timing is off.

Does your engine seem to be running hotter than normal?

Does the smoke clear up at all when it warms up?

Last, you my have an injecter bleeding into a cylinder after shut down,
after it clears the engine can crank faster. But it leaves the exhaust full of fuel.
