I have a Ford F150 4.2L 6cyl. With 200,000 miles on it. I have 3 trouble codes which state:"Lack Of Upstream Heated O2 Sensor Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean (bank#1), and System to Lean (bank#1), and System to Lean (bank#2). I am assuming I need to replace my O2 sensor, But, I do not know what
( bank#1) or (bank#2) means.
Can anyone clear this up for me? Thank you in advance. Kimmie

When the 02 sensors don't switch fast enough, it set the code and turns on the MIL, this can happen for bad sensors, or bad gas! Try a tank of 89 octane, get the light turned off and see if it resets, if the light comes back on Bank 1 sensor 1 is the 1st sensor on the #1 cylinder side of the motor, bank 2 is cly #2 side. If you stand at the drivers side at the wheel well and look at the valve covers, the cover that is the most forward is the #1 cyl side!

Thank you Merlin, I"ll try the higher octane gas then reset the computer. And I appriciate you explaining bank1 and bank2 for me also. I'll let you know how I did. I am not a machanic, but I do like to get to know the vehicles that I drive machanically, in case I were to break down on the road, I would like to be able to fix it myself. Independant, or driven, I don't know but it works for me. Thank you again.
