Electonics Problem

1987 F150, 4.9 six, 4x4. I picked up a truck that some kids had tried to jump with the cables hooked up reverse polarity and the computer was burnt up. I bought a computer from an 89 f150, 4.9 six. Still seems like it isn't firing. Can someone tell me if this computer is compatible with the 87 and or any other electronics that may need replaced because of the reversed polarity?

A salvage yard can tell you this. Need to have both computer numbers available.

The old computer is numbered

E7TF-12A650-L2C

The new one is numbered

E9TF-12A650-DA

I was told that these are the only numbers needed to find out if the new one will work. Is there anyone who can let me know if the new one will work with this truck?

Those numbers don't maych so again unless this new computer is a superceded part call a parts department or salvage yard
