2006 Ford F-150 Rear Brake Rotor Replacement

Trying to replace my rear brake rotors, but they seem to be stuck in the hub. Have confirmed that the e-brake is not engaged/stuck. Have sprayed lug and hub joints with PB Blaster as best that I could and am waiting on it to work. The only advice I have found is to then beat on the rotor hub with a sledge hammer (between lugs and on outer hub corner). Any other advice on freeing the stuck rotors? Is there a tool available for this specific issue?

Hello and thanks for the donation!

Sometimes the brake disc can bind on the parking brake shoe and lining, even with the e-brake in the off position. Try removing the adjustment plug and contract the parking brake shoe and lining. If this isn't the cause for it sticking, you will just have to keep hitting it with a rubber headed mallet to loosen it.

Thanks for the quick response. Just FYI, I have confirmed the eBrake lever moves and have disconnected the eBrake cable. Have not looked at the hub for any ebrake adjustment and am not home now to check. More specifically what am I looking for?

I started using a deadblow hammer and have since migrated to a 2lb sledge though I have not hit it with a lot of force. Even the Ford delaer is telling me to use a sledge (i.E. Larger I think). Kind of scary even on large heavy castings.

Just ensure the parking brake shoe is not in contact with the rotor. I suggest using a rubber headed mallet instead of a steel headed sledge. Don't be afraid to use force, it takes a lot to break them lose due to all of the heat from braking.
