I am fairly mechanically capable and have changed brake pads on a small car before so my question is how hard is it to replace my brake pads and rotors on my truck? Firestone wanted to charge me $1000 to replace all rotors and bads and flush my brake fluid will i be able to do this job for under $500 and if so or not what should my budget look like? thanks

Brake job is a brake job. If you have done it on a car, you can do this to your truck. Just make sure that you have a decent 3T jack and stands, the right size Torx screw to remove the caliper bolts.

If you have the 2-wheel drive, the front rotors will be additional $100 plus the cost of inner and outer bearings, seals, and bearing grease. Regardless, you will be saving boat loads of cash by doing this yourself. Just for some assurance, invest $20 for a Haynes repair manual. It will help you the long run.
