I replaced the fuel filter on my 2002 F150 and now it won't start. No fuel is leaking, and when I turn the key, the light indicating the fuel cap is off comes on.

The fuel cap isn't off.
Any ideas?

The light is not for the fuel cap, . . specifically. It means the Engine Computer has detected a problem and set a diagnostic fault code in memory. That code will lead you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part.

While changing the fuel filter, I had the hood popped to release the pressure via the Schrader valve on the engine. I noticed some corrosion on the battery terminals and poured a little classic coke on them to work it's magic while I was under the truck. Apparently the gunk built up on them was completing the connection it needed to run.( A lot of you are probably cringing at the neglect...) It won't happen again.
After about 2 hours of constant- baking soda and water scrubs with a toothbrush, I was able to get the connections off and clean them thoroughly. Now they look brand new and everything is running smoothly.
Better actually.
