Rear view mirror re-install?

My rear view mirror (non electrical) on my 2001 F150 SVT Lightning fell off. I have glued the metal billet to the windshield but am unable to install the mirror to the billet. I do not want to place to much pressure and break the windshield but it is giving me a hard time and cant help but feel I am doing something wrong. 2 mechanics were unable to figure it out and I cant justify paying $100 to the dealer for 30 seconds of service. Please help

There are varying quality of glue that is used, like in most cases the professional grade works while the over the counter glue doesn't. Here is a glue that the pro's use from amazon which is better strength.
